ACTIVITIES

The Olive park Happy Families organizes three different teaching/playing projects addressed to school children and teenagers from 3 to 13 years old, each to be spent on a single school day:

The teaching farm

The time machine

Archaeo-lab

The projects aim at favouring the children's approach to the old rural traditions, which have been almost forgotten owing to the industrial process, and at arising their interest in the surrounding territory and in the culture which made it great.

:: The teaching farm ::

The first source of human survival has always been agriculture, that is life, history, a tradition which has been neglected by the prevailing contemporary culture.In spring the park organizes a series of activities involving children in the learning of the practical occupations of old agricultural communities, so as to arise their interest in the protection of the environment (for further details.).

:: The Time machine ::

The programs of experimental archeology are meant to favour the children's approach to the ancient's lifestyle and to the slow technical advancement. The aim is to turn the theory learnt on history books into practice, allowing them to take part to the simulation of an archeological activity. ( for further details.).

:: Archaeo-lab ::

It consists in allowing children to do the same activities as primitive men and to get some information about the fascinating world of archaeology. This project may be developed in the schools with no more than 30 participants. It may take a single day (from 9.00 to 1.00p.m.) agreeing with the teachers about a choice of activities among the proposals or it may take more afternoons, during which all the aspects of prehistorical lifestyle will be faced: hut building,clothes making, rock art creation, wool weaving etc. (for further details.)

:: The school camp ::
In our park a school camp works from Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 16.00.It is addressed to children from 4 to 12, from the closing of schools in June up to their reopening in September. (for further details.)
